Secure Protection Process

All protected documents are encrypted, whether a password has been added or not. Each time a document is protected, it will be different to any previous or future copy so that each document can be said to be uniquely secure. By default we offer 128 bit encryption.

Trace Document Leaks

Through the use of embedded recipient information, you can find the original recipient of a document which may have been leaked or copied. This acts as both a way to definitively prove where a leak started, or as a powerful deterrent against recipients disclosing a protected document.

Document Expiry

altaVENTE Document Protector allows for valid from and expiry to dates. This is very useful for documents which do not need to be referred to either before or after a specific date. This checking is enforced through nominated internet time servers and, therefore, if the time servers cannot be contacted to verify access, the recipient will not be able view the document.

Embedded Author and Recipient Details

When protecting a document, details including your name, organization and email address are burned in, as well as the same details for your recipient. These details are embedded in the document and cannot be removed or edited. Anytime you need to prove ownership, or trace a leak to a recipient, just press the F1 key or click Help Information to see the details.

Enforce Acceptance of Legal Agreement

altaVENTE Document Protector allows for a Non-Disclosure agreement, or other legal agreement, to be added to a protected document. The recipient must accept this before viewing. The agreement can include any text and only after the recipient accepts, will they be able to proceed and view the document.

Easy to use online access anywhere

altaVENTE Document Protector is an online service which can be accessed from any PC with an internet connection. The document protection history is held securely on our hosted server, whilst the actual document never leaves your PC. A Windows Client application performs the protection process locally. You can download the Windows client on to any PC anywhere running Windows and connect to your secure account to control your document protection. Simple, easy to use access anywhere!

Password Encrypted

altaVENTE Document Protector allows for the optional entry of a password to control access to protected document. The password can be up to 24 characters long and, by default, allows the recipient 3 retries.

Secure - Documents never leave your PC

altaVENTE knows that document security is of primary importance, so provide a Windows client to run on your PC which performs the actual protection process so that documents never leave your PC to be protected. Use the web application to select how the document is to be protected and then click Protect. The website will then instruct your PC to perform the protection and place the protected document in your ‘MyDocuments\MyProtectedDocuments’ folder. The source document never leaves the PC. The protected document can now either be left there or sent to your recipient via any digital method such as email, USB key or network share.

Electronic Paper Trail

Each time a document is protected, an audit trail is updated so that, at any time, the Document Protection history can be examined, in case of information leaks or simply to find the password assigned to a particular document.

Add Corporate Branding

Each document can have a branding logo associated with it which is shown before the document is visible. Your logo image remains visible for 5 seconds before the document is visible, helping enforce your ownership of the document and your brand.
